National Level Energy Consultancy

Radiant Energy Ltd. is the sole Caribbean-based consultancy that provides renewable energy analysis to the Clinton Climate Initiative.

We manage a variety of projects and and technical studies for Caribbean Governments from Belize, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, and the Colombian Islands of San Andrés and Providencia.

Long Term Energy Planning

Caribbean Nations are blessed with abundant sunshine, wind , and even geothermal resources. Traditionally, all electricity has been generated by fossil fuels, with some countries also having hydro plants. Deciding which technologies to invest in, when fossil fuel prices are volatile, electricity demand changes and as islands want to be more resilient as hurricanes get more severe, is a tough challenge. Radiant Energy Ltd. supports the Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) which analyse various scenarios of renewable energy investments. We build future-looking cash flows to understand the impact on the electric utility as well as to the ratepayers. The investments that add the most value to the grid becomes a clear and the right timing for the investments can be determined. Countries can then develop robust RFPs to procure the best systems.

An example of an IRP that we supported can be found here.

Rural Electrification/Microgrids

Generating electricity on-site is valuable to increase resiliency of electricity systems in case the national grid goes down and even to power remote communities that are far from the grid. We quantify the cost benefit of these on-site generation systems.

Energy Storage

As renewable energy integration becomes more commonplace in the Caribbean, energy storage solutions (ESS) are advantageous to provide grid stability and other ancillary support services such as frequency regulation and voltage support.

We perform techno-economic analyses for energy storage systems to support renewable energy and electrical grids.
